For 19 years Holiday Isle Oceanfront Resort has played an instrumental part in raising the funds for Give Kids The World Village, a 70 acre “storybook” resort located in central, Fl. With the funds collected, Give Kids The World Village fulfills the wishes of families and children with life-threatening illnesses.

2016 marks the 19 anniversary of this fund raising event held at the Holiday Isle Oceanfront Resort. What started as a sports event held on the beach, this event has taken another turn making it more family friendly. A five hour pool party with food, music, prizes, auctions and of course Sparky, one of the best balloon-animal making clown in all of NE Florida.

This years event had prizes donated from local businesses and hotel rooms around the state available to the highest bidder. The Spa at World Golf Village was on hand providing massages to stressed and tired swimmers. “This is an amazing event,” said Zenna, Salon Specialist at The Spa at World Golf Village. “It is so great to be able to give the kids a week without worry. We are just fortunate to be here and support this event and all they do .”

While auctioneer and MC, Roger Ramsey held the mic and auctioned off the services and gift baskets, 8 year old Taylor and 9 year old Charlotte, students from RB Hunt Elementary School jumped in and out of the pool. The girls came to enjoy the festivities with mom. After spending the morning with Keepers of the Coast cleaning up the beach, mom, Terra felt that this was the perfect community event to spend the afternoon.

“I think it is important to support fundraiser activities and events in the community,” said Terra as she dried off the girls. “And the clown didn’t even scare me,” exclaimed 8 year old Taylor.

The staff and volunteers all wore Event Tee-shirts and did whatever it took to make this event successful. Our own St Augustine Beach Civic Association was on hand to provide the music and anything that was needed.

Larry Collier Jr, general manager and director of operations of H.I. Development stood on the pool deck enjoying the crowd. “We raised $8000 last year and expect to top that this year,” he said. “We fulfilled a dream and have built a villa at the village.

Welcoming more than 140,000 families from all 50 states and 75 countries, Give Kids The World Village served thousands of families last year, making wishes come true for thousands of kids. “No child in need has ever been turned away – and no child ever will.” states the Give Kids The World Village website.

As the hotel begins the renovations for the newly designed Guy Harvey Resort, the staff and resort company continue to put kids and people first. “We will continue to support this organization and all they do,” shared Collier. “It is just going to get better and bigger.”
