Community First Credit Union has once again joined hands with the St Augustine Amphitheatre, Friends of the St Augustine Amphitheatre and Precision Turf to sponsor a month long of family friendly events. “A December to Remember” will offer the community free events for the whole family to enjoy throughout the month of December. With the focus on the holidays, the community is invited to enjoy music, movies and more making sure your holidays are magical.

The Amphitheatre will be open to the public and fully decorated all month long with lights, festive décor, a holiday tree, an Elf Village and festive music. Families are invited to enjoy free train rides, visits with Santa, face-painting and a bounce house during the free holiday events held at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre.

Beginning Thanksgiving weekend, “A December to Remember” will open the doors on November 28th and welcome the community with the legendary movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. Directed by Frank Capra, this 1946 family classic follows a down trodden loan manager (Jimmy Stewart) and his heartwarming experiences after he is greeted by an angel named Clarence. Clarance brings George back from the brink of destruction by giving George a chance to see what life would be like if he were never born. Clarence helps George discover what a wonderful life it is after all.

Other movies throughout the month will include many favorite holiday classics. The movie “Home Alone” will be a part of the Food Truck & Movie Special Event on Dec 13th. Travel back in time and enjoy an old fashioned drive-in movie with the movie “A Christmas Story” being shown on Dec 19th at Anastasia State Park.

Sing along with the Rockapella Holiday Review on Dec 10th. This five-man singing group is full of incredible vocal talent. Known as the Kings of Contemporary A Cappella, Rockapella have released 20 albums over the last 20 years, with their most recent titled, “A Rockapella Holiday. “

The entertainment will continue with a live musical performances from the remarkable singing group The Manhattan Transfer on Dec 11th. Many will remember The Manhattan Transfer with such hits as “Boy From New York City” and “ Birdland”. In 1980 Birdland” brought the group their first Grammy Award for Best Jazz Fusion Performance. This year the group will most definitely treat the audience to some exquisite music off their 1992 album entitled “The Christmas Album”. Favorites such as “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and Mel Torme’s “ A Christmas Song” will surly get the audience in the Christmas spirit.

On Dec 12th Murry Middle School will present the play, “Yes, Virginia.” This holiday play is about an eight year old girl who writes a letter to the editor of the New York Sun asking that age old question “Is there a Santa Clause?”

The events will wrap up with a Chili Cook Off and a special double feature movie night featuring “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Elf”.  Along with the special features, there will be visits from Santa, Train Rides, Face Painting and Bounce House throughout the month at almost every event.

Bring the kids both young and old and enjoy “A December To Remember.”
