Crime-Stoppers of Northeast Florida Annual Awards Ceremony was held last week. The award ceremony honors law enforcement officers in St Johns, Flagler, and Putnam Counties. This year, Officer Ed Martinez, from the St Augustine Beach Police Department, was honored as the top law enforcement officer representing St Johns County.

Officer Martinez is assigned as the Crime Prevention Officer for the Beach Police Department. He is involved in over 26 crime prevention and community programs throughout the county. Chief Hardwick spoke highly of Martinez and his work in the community. According to Hardwick, Martinez does all he can to promote law enforcement and develop crime prevention partnerships.

Martinez can be seen at many events throughout the beach. Along with keeping the community safe during the Beach Blast Off and National Night Out events, Martinez is involved in the St Johns County Boys and Girls Club, Exceptional Student Education Programs with St Johns County School District and The St Johns County Council on Aging.

Never one to say no, Martinez will often work beyond his scheduled time, always putting the safety of the community first. Congratulations Officer Martinez for a job well done!
