Flagler College Ranks #2 in Best College in the South

Once again, Flagler College has ranked in the top ten of the best colleges in the South. According to U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 Best College guide, Flagler College has ranked number two in the Best Regional Colleges in the South category, which is a move up from sixth place last year. The top spot was awarded to High Point University in North Carolina.

According to the Flagler College website, President Abare was impressed and humbled by the honor, “This was a very significant achievement for Flagler to be ranked second among colleges in the South,” said Dr. William T. Abare Jr. This is our highest ranking in U.S. News’ influential rankings, and it is a tribute to our strong academic programs, our excellent students and our talented faculty and staff.”

experience as well as the diverse range of programs in the liberal arts field such as business,education graphic design and theater.

Founded in 1968, Flagler College has increased enrollment every year and the 2016-2017 student count is over 2,700 students. With the tuition and fees at $17,500 (2016-17), Flagler has proven to be one of the most affordable private colleges in the country.

The uniqueness of the campus has proven to be a great draw for the students. Located less then five miles from the surf, it has become a hub of beach lovers and champion surfers. The Hugh Shaw Surf Classic is held yearly in honor of Flagler student and surf fanatic, Hugh Shaw, who lost his life while attending Flagler College. The Hugh Shaw Scholarship has contributed thousands of scholarship funds to the college. The historic atmosphere of Flagler College is also a great attraction. Ponce De Leon Hall, which is the central building on campus and a National Historic Landmark, houses close to 480 female students and is home to the exquisite dining room which has the greatest count of Tiffany windows in the world.
