2015 Boat Regatta

Peace was the theme of the evening on the bay front on Saturday night as thousands came to enjoy the “Regatta of Lights” boat parade put on by the St Augustine Yacht Club.

It was a Ho-Ho-Ho and a run through the neighborhood of St Augustine Beach last Saturday as close to 600 runners took to the streets to help raise funds for at-risk youth. Dressed in their best Christmas attire, these elves, Santas and Christmas jollies were running for a cause close to their hearts and The St Augustine Youth Services 4th annual “Santa Suits on the Loose 5K Family Run” proved to be a huge success.

Run Like The Divas

27 year old Sarah Maltby from Richmond Hill, Georgia was the first place finisher in the 2015 Diva Run Half-Marathon. Running at a pace of 6.7 mph Maltby finished the race with a time of one hour 24.39 minutes. Eleven year old Mia Chang was the first place finisher in the 5K. She finished the 5K with the time of 21:49 minutes.

The night was warmer than expected for Clint Black and his band as they performed his Christmas Concert sponsored by Friends of the St Augustine Amphitheatre and Community First Credit Union. “Who knew,” shouted Black above the deafening cheers (referring to the warm welcome of the audience) as he turned to his band and smiled during his encore appearance at the St Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday evening. With a donation of a nonperishable food item for the St Augustine food bank, over 1000 people were treated to an early Christmas present in St Augustine…and what a gift it was!


New Mayor To Be Chosen

This weeks at the SAB City Commission meeting, commissioners will discuss a variety of issues related to buildings on the beach as well as elect a new mayor and vice mayor.
