It was one of the most poignant literary pieces of the century. “To Kill A Mockingbird,” written by Harper Lee, was the 2016 St Johns Reads book of the year. With activities held throughout the county in conjunction with the reading, it all came to a head on Saturday night at the St Augustine Amphitheater with a question and answer period entitle “An Evening With Scout” and a showing of the movie.

 Planet! Sarbez! To Host Narrow Magazine Music Awards

Join local musicians and music fans for the annual Narrow Music Magazine Awards on Sunday, February 28th. This years awards will honor musicians that Narrow Magazine recognizes as the best in St Augustine of 2015. Awards will be presented for Best Album, Best Video, Best Song and Best Cover among others. Narrow is St. Augustine’s newest monthly music magazine with the focus on the local music scene. Along with the music awards there will be musical performances by St Augustine local talent. This is a free event open to all music lovers.

Northwestern Mutual @ Sea Grove

Financial services company to offer comprehensive financial planning


Northwestern Mutual is opening a new office in St. Augustine on February 15, 2016, providing the company with a convenient location to better serve its clients. The new office will be located at 108 Sea Grove Main Street, Suite C in Sea Grove Village on Anastasia Island, located just south of Hwy 312 and north of Marsh Creek Country Club.

Although the weather outside was frightful on Saturday night, the atmosphere inside Lohman Auditorium was warm and welcoming for the Gamble Rogers Concert Series, featuring singer/ songwriters Brother Brother. The auditorium was close to full with music lovers of all ages. The crowd mingled in the lobby, purchasing raffle tickets and homemade baked goods. It was so small town and evident everyone was enjoying this special night out.

last performed to a sold out crowd at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on August 9, 2013.

Courtyard by Marriott Almost Finished

Construction on the 205-room Courtyard by Marriott is in the final stages. Signage has been installed, putting the Marriott’s mark on the building, which sits on A1A between 5th and 7th St. The Courtyard by Marriott is an Elite Hospitality hotel, making three hotels in St Augustine Beach run by Elite. Manoj A. Bhoola, the president and chief operating officer of Elite Hospitality, stated that it is his hope that the Courtyard will serve as the company’s flagship hotel at the beach. Elite Hospitality also owns the Hampton Inn and the Hilton Garden Inn in St Augustine Beach. Along with the hotels in St Augustine Beach, Elite owns hotels in Daytona Beach, Jacksonville and Ormond Beach.



Gamble Rogers February Events

Brother Brother

Brother Brother (aka the Anderson Brothers) will perform on February 6th at the Lohman Auditorium at the Whtiney Lab. The Anderson Brothers are a mix of bluegrass, alternative and roots infused by instrumentals. They are climbing the ladder of success very rapidly and have been featured in at the Jim Stafford Theater in Branson, Missouri. Opening for Brother Brother will be Mike Lagasse, of Gamble Rogers fame.



40 Acres Rezoned for Development

The rezoning of over 40 acres, from open rural, where agricultural and residential single-family are allowed, to planned unit development, which is a type of zoning made for a specific project has been approved by the St Johns County Commissioners. The land sits on State Road 206 between A1A to US 1 South. The proposed development will be called Lakewood Pointe. The subdivision will include 78 single-family homes and is slated to begin this year.
