The St Augustine Film Festival will take place this week. Hosted by Flagler College and The Corazon Cinema & Cafe, two of this years films have been nominated for an Academy Award. The film “THEEB”  has been nominated as Best Foreign Picture and the film”Chau Beyond the Lines” has been nominated for Best Short Documentary Film.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Micklers, a juvenile green sea turtle housed at The Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Laboratory’s was well enough to be released last week. This was the first sea turtle release since the rehabilitation facility in southern St. Johns County opened in Oct. 2015. The release took place Jan. 21, 2016, at 3 p.m. at the beach access area on the east side of A1A just south of Whitney Laboratory located at 9505 Ocean Shore Blvd.

Remembering A Hero-41st Ron Parker Memorial

On a beautiful day in St Augustine Beach, over 100 people stood to honor the memory of Deputy Ron Parker at the Ron Parker Memorial. Located on Pope Road, the memorial is there in remembrance for visitors, both young and old, to the Ron Parker Memorial Recreation Park.

St Augustine Art Association Wow In 2016

It was an opening to be proud of, as the St Augustine Art Association opened the 2016 year with their signature “Black & White and Shades of Gray” titled art show. Over 100 pieces of black and white art surrounded the main gallery, including those in attendance for the opening decked out in what else….black and white.

The subject of quality of life at St Augustine Beach came up at the last SAB City Commission meeting on January 4th. According to the city managers office, there are seven significant events in the area.  Those events are categorized by the number of people in attendance of 300 people or more. The major events included, The Diva Run, Beach Blast Off and the St Augustine Beach Civic Association “Music By The Sea” events, which are spread out over the summer.

St Augustine Beach brought the new year in with a bang, boom and a “How do you do,” last Thursday night as thousands crowded the pier park and surrounding areas to enjoy the Beach Blast Off 2015.
Noted as one of the best family friendly New Years events in Florida, the 2015 Beach Blast Off celebrated it’s tenth year giving families from around the area and around the world a place to safely celebrate with the kids.


“To Kill A Mockingbird” Chosen for Community Wide Reading Project

The St. Johns County Public Library System is pleased to announce that it has chosen a true classic for the February 2016 community-wide reading project called “St. Johns Reads.” Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, is sure to be a crowd pleaser for this year’s program.
