Land Use Workshop

A Special Commission Workshop will be held at SAB City Hall at 5:00 on June 30th. The meeting will focus on the LDR, Comprehensive Plan, Vision Plan as well as a review of the Charter. With many new construction projects taking place within the St Augustine Beach area, many citizens and city staff feel this is a much needed workshop. Northeast Florida Regional Council was hired to look at the land development regulations.

 Update On Embassy Suites

Mountains of dirt and sand sit at the end of Pope Rd and A1A Beach Blvd, ready to be used in the increased elevation of the newest hotel at the beach. Embassy Suites, St Augustine Beach. Hilton Worldwide has signed an agreement with Key International to build the new Embassy Suites at the beach. With all the fill, the elevation will be increased by 10 feet. Truckloads of fill has been delivered to the oceanfront lot and drilling is ready to begin for the pilings.

University of Florida Whitney Laboratory Sea Turtle Release

Scheduled for June 20, 2016

The University of Florida Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience Sea Turtle Hospital is pleased to announce that it will release its next sea turtle, Cisco Kid, on June 20, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the River to Sea Preserve beach, known as Marineland beach, located at 9805 N. Oceanshore Blvd. This will be the Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Lab’s first release of a turtle treated for fibropappilomatosis, which is a disease that causes internal and external tumors to grow on the sea turtle, inhibiting normal functioning. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

She came on stage dressed in black from head to toe. Cyndi Lauper addressed the crowd, “Don’t hate, there is just no reason to hate.”

After a day that started on a sad note, with the killings in Orlando, it was apparent Lauper was distraught and overwhelmed with regard to the gun violence that has plagued this country. Cyndi expressed the oneness of our being, “The Muslim Religion is about love,” Lauper informed the crowd. “The hate must stop!”

Ocean Ridge

Ocean Ridge plan

Land Clearing continues on the new development off of 11th Street. The new development, Ocean Ridge, consists of a 23-acre wooded parcels that sits between 11th St and Mickler Rd. Owner Jay McGarvey, of McGarvey Residential Communities, plan to build over 70 homes, including a pond on the property.
