Courtyard by Marriott opened with a bang on March 11th, ready to serve visitors to this beach-friendly community. With over 200 high class guest rooms, as well as a 5000 square foot banquet facility, the Courtyard is the flagship hotel at the beach for Elite Hospitality. Elite also owns the Hampton Inn and the Hilton Garden Inn in St Augustine Beach as well as hotels in Dayton, Jacksonville and further south.

The Mighty Water Bear: Tiny, but Invincible!

The Evenings at Whitney Lecture Series hosted by the University of Florida Whitney Laboratory returns on March 31, 2016, at 7 p.m. with the program titled The Mighty Water Bear: Tiny, but Invincible!. Bob Goldstein, professor of biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will speak about water bears, which are fascinating, microscopic animals that live all around us. Water bears are among the most extreme survivors of all animals. The free lecture is presented at Lohman Auditorium located at 9505 Ocean Shore Blvd., on the Whitney Laboratory campus.

Blessing Of The Fleet 2016

Boats pass in front of the St. Augustine Municipal Marina during the city’s annual Blessing of the Fleet. Bishop Felipe J. Estévez administers the annual blessing and the St Augustine Royal Family, dressed in all their finery, look on.

When all the boats have been blessed, officers of the St Augustine Police Department lay the anchor wreath in the water to remember those we lost at sea.

With a packed house, Tommy Bledsoe, St Johns County Culture Council, was the Master of Ceremonies and Louise Freshman Brown, professor of Art at the University of North Florida was the keynote speaker. Brown shared stories of her travels around the world and her love of art. The audience was treated to a personalized show of various pieces in her portfolio.

This years award winners include: Elyse Brady, Manila Clough, Caren Goldman, Jan Tomlinson Master, JoAnn Nance, Rosamond Parrish and Shirley Williams-Collins.

‘The Lion King Jr.’

St. Augustine Amphitheatre

Disney’s “The Lion King, Jr” will be presented at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Tuesday, March 15 at 7PM. Students from the St. Johns County Center for the Arts at Murray Middle School will perform in the musical as the dancers, the familiar characters and chorus.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Evenings at Whitney Lecture Series hosted by the University of Florida Whitney Laboratory returns on March 10, 2016, at 7 p.m. with the program titled “Kids Curing Cancer through Diet.” Alana O’Reilly, associate professor at Temple University School of Medicine’s Fox Chase Cancer Center, will share her research conducted with hundreds of students that looks to understand how dietary imbalance impacts normal development. The research also identifies inexpensive, widely accessible interventions to reduce and treat cancer and other diseases. The free lecture is presented at Lohman Auditorium located at 9505 Ocean Shore Blvd., on the Whitney Laboratory campus.
