Mountains of dirt and sand sit at the end of Pope Rd and A1A Beach Blvd, ready to be used in the increased elevation of the newest hotel at the beach, Embassy Suites, St Augustine Beach. Hilton Worldwide has signed an agreement with Key International to build the new Embassy Suites at the beach. With all the fill, the elevation will be increased by 10 feet. Truckloads of fill has been delivered to the oceanfront lot and drilling is ready to begin for the pilings.

According to the VCB (Visitors and Convention Bureau,) the demand for hotel rooms is up seven percent since last year, making the Embassy Suites a much needed addition to the beach. With the additional jobs the hotel will bring, a positively impact is expected for the economy of the area.
